Hi,
the original BMW-ipod-adapter doesnt work with e38, e39. The new e46 have a connector in the fond for connecting the ipod to the ibus.
For e38 you should use the adapter from icelink. Have a look at ebay: ice link plus for bmw, costs about 149 Euros (for without dsp).
