I convert my e38 750i into a 740i with manuell transmission.
After weeks over the wires i would start the engine, but it only turns.
No ignigtion spark without the ews signal.
so i think the engine box need the signal from the ews to start.
but you wrote that you take electric from a e34, maybe it works without the ews.
