Kick-Down problem E32 V12 750i HOLLAND
Hello Deutche Freunden!
My name is Bart, i am from Holland (Tilburg) and my Deutch is not so good, so i try to ask you a question in Englisch. Sorry for that !!...
I own a BMW 7-series 750i E32 from modelyear 1993. I have a problem with the automatic gearbox and i hope you know what the problem is.
When i driver normal, nothing is wrong, the gearbox changes gears smoothly.
But when i hit the Kick-Down, the gearbox changes a gear down, wich i think is good, but when it reaches 5000/6000 RPM or so it does NOT shift UP untill i release the Kick-Down, then it chages the gear up correctly?!
Can someone help me please

Hello Dutchman,
just to ensure we are on the same page, did you push the engine to 6000 RPM ? Because you're writing "when it reaches 5000/6000 RPM or so". The part "or so" sounds to me that you're afraid to really check it out. The V12 RPM limit is 6000 RPM, means no risk to blow up the engine. Until the engine doesn't run into it's own limit: "Step on it !".
When you realize that the engine reached the limit and the gearbox isn't shifting up, than you have an issue.
But don't try this for several minutes ok ?
Cheers Guido

Try a reset, info on my website below.
I assume that you see in the dash cluster the gear and mode, for example D and M?
If not, clean the gear selector switch.
Go to my website below and click the link to Gale, he has described it.

der Kickdown fährt die Gänge bis Enddrehzahl aus, solange dieser (KD) betätigt ist...

and here the literal translation of "the master's voice"
The kickdown function is designed in such a way that the gear changes only when the RPM limiter has been reached in every gear. That continues as long as you have pushed the accell down to kick down.
That is a feature of the kickdown function, not a mal-function.

Thank you all for the reactions,
I understand how the KickDown works but i don't think mine works right.
Today (after work) i will test the Kickdown again and hold it down until (hopefully) it shifts UP. I don't think this will work becouse i tried it before but maybe i didn't wait long enough.....
Tonight i will post my findings here...

Congrats, Bart
do yourselves and us a favour and complete your profile on the right
Fahrzeug:
you mentioned in the first posting 750i E32 from model year 1993, better to add the exact month and year of production. Model year 1993 can mean production date 10/1992 for example.
There are a lot of different wiring diagrams, different modules etc.
So better we know the production date.
You can easily check that on my website, there is a VIN decoder, just type in the last 7 digits of your VIN and you have the exact details.

Thanks
PS:
you can change the profile on the left, click Mitgliederbereich and then you find it.
Don't drive too fast, the next radar check is wairing for you
