Das ist gerade ein aktueller Beitrag aus einem amerikanischen BMW-Board.

Sounds like someone put ATF in the reservior (41 views)

The Auto Trans Fluid will eat the seals in the entire system.

The preferred method to change fluid is to suck as much fluid from the tank as possible then refill with CHF. Run the car (turning steering wheel and pumping brakes several times each) then suck as much as possible out again and repeat.

Keep doing this until the fluid is very green.

Follow instructions for proper fill level in the tank as well. With car level and warm engine off, pump the brakes until the pedal does not get any stiffer. Then check the level. It should be just touching the bottom of screen.

You will want to be checking the color and level of fluid almost daily for several days/weeks after this because fluid will be trapped in the rear struts and accumulators that will not flush and dilute immediately. It will take many cycles of the suspension (if so equipped) to dilute the mixture enough to call it harmless.

However, it sounds like the damage is already done and you are looking at quite a mess to replace all those components. You might get lucky by flushing the system but don’t be disappointed if it goes the wrong way. A few drips here and there is not bad until you can replace a piece.

Sorry to hear that. :-(

Gruss Manu
