ABS/ASC blink test - Only possible on newer E32 (was not specified then in the original post month/year)
German version:
ABS/ASC-Blink-Code
Press the brake pedal and switch "ASC" at the same time
- ignition "on"
- Release the brake pedal and switch
- ASC LIGHT starts to flash
BC = BlinkCode
BC 1 = no error
BC 2 = EMS error
BC 3 = Motronic fault (DME / EMU)
BC 4 = speed sensor error rear left
BC 5 = speed sensor error rear right
BC 6 = speed sensor error at the front right
BC 7 = speed sensor error in front left
BC 8 = ABS solenoid valve, rear left
BC 9 = ABS solenoid valve, rear right
BC10 = ABS solenoid valve, front right
BC11 = ABS solenoid valve, front left
BC12 = ASR plunger valve fault, rear left
BC13 = ASR plunger valve fault, rear right
BC14 = valve relay error
BC15 = recycle pump error
BC16 = accumulator charging valve error
BC17 = long-term error pressure monitoring
BC18 = leakage error (also displayed if the pressure accumulator (gas cartridge) in the ASC + T hydraulic block is defective (e.g. empty)
BC19 = printing error
BC20 = gearbox influence line fault
BC21 = ABS / ASR control unit error
BC22 = TD signal error (should / could be tacho pulse)
BC23 = Option pin line fault

What does this have to do with blocking the brakes?
I don't quite understand.

It doesn't to do anything with blocking the brakes. I mean this. When the engine was cold, the brake was free and even after a few km of driving. However, later (after the brake system has warmed up, after about 10-15 km), the brake begins to grind slightly so that the car can no longer be pushed by hand. (I was only about 1 km from home). At first, the car could not be pushed by hand in the driveway, after a cooling time of approx. 20 min the problem then disappeared again. It does when water inside the ABS hydraulic unit when the brakes system has warmed up while you drive water expend and push piston's caliper.
that is a problem of the main brake cylinder, see here from post 114 https://www.7-forum.com/forum/showth...41#post2294141
the next post shows pictures from Haschra of a disassembled main brake cylinder showing the seals and the bakelite ring, the ring is usually the problem, by age and rising temperature it swells and blocks the brakes.
I had that once on a long time stored parts car, wanted to drive it to another place in the backyard, when I pushed the brake pedal, brakes were blocked and did not release any more. I used a long metal pipe and a hammer and hit several times directly onto the master brake cylinder and the brake released again.
translate this:
