Anyone used or heard of Luftfederung shocks
Hellos from the USA. Not sure if this will post as english or be convertted to german by google.
I have a 2001 740iL with EDC and all 4 shocks need replacing. I have a quote from the Polish company for $500 per shock, but i have also found this company (Luftfederuhhng) that sells new shocks for $454. Has anyone heard of them or know anyone that has used these shocks?

Hello! I don't know them but you might want to check out this thread:
https://www.7-forum.com/forum/showthread.html?t=239647
it is as well about potential alternatives for the original BMW EDC shocks.

Hello Andrew
Be careful.
If you have an E38 long version "iL", then it is also equipped with "Niveauregulierung" which is hydraulic level adjustment.
The shocks shown in the ad are with EDC only, but you would need a different variant, namely those with EDC plus hydraulic level adjustment.
Cheers Andy

My car has EDC only and no leveling. Maybe this was an option in the US only.
Thanks for the links - very helpful. I did search but didn't find those - sometimes searching in english doesn't pull he right threads.
I will email the german company that someone mentioned (texerv) and see if they can refresh the shocks and for how much - and will of course report back.
And more - i messages Peter (heatingpad) about his Chinese dampers hat he has had for 3 years and he reported back that they are working very well still after about 12000km.

Well, if you know for sure it is OK.
However all I know is that leveling was an option for all models except for the long versions and for the 750's. These got it as standard equipment.
Leveling has no controls for the driver and it only affects the rear axle whereas the rear shocks have hoses conncted to them.

Hi Andrew,
I had some shocks overhauled from Texerv.
Worked just fine.
If there is a language barrier or other problems to connect, just let me know. I am happy to assist.
Regards from Northern Germany

I did reach out to Tim at Texerv - his written english is very good! Probably better than most Americans....tho that bar is not very high. Unfortunately all he works on is SLS shocks these days. So still stuck with options of Poland, and buy Chinese knock-offs. What to do?
And to just close the loop on the rear shocks - i took pics of the shock label and they are Sachs, part # 331700105197, which comes back as EDC only. RealOEM has the part number as 33521091573, but they appear to be the same shock.
Front left is Sachs 141500115440, whole Realoem shows 31311091557. But again appear to be the same shock.
Geändert von andrewgrhogg (21.03.2024 um 18:13 Uhr).
