I live in Austria, here ist 140 max... (130 official) and i drive also most time very calm.... there were not 2 Liter full max between the D and the i.... So i prefered the 8 zylinder instead of 3 turbos... Also i like the 40D very much.

right...i would also prefer the 740d. nice, powerfull, much more cheaper and does not have so much problems.

It's a pity there is no V8 Diesel engine anymore in the F01.
More V8 Petrolfanatics would like the diesel.
The fault of downsizing blabla.
Ofcourse the new zeven will have a R4.
Could it be that some E65 drivers are happy with their V8 D?

and good friend of mine does have the old one e65 V8 Diesel and still loves it. For sure he would have enough money for a new car but anyway, he loves this engine. And he has 250t at the Counter....

Thank you for your insight into the diesel 6-ers.
As to planning in advance it came after the rumors of the 50d engines began surfacing and after a while the 750d was announced. So this past winter I began checking ads on mobile.de just out of curiosity and was surprised at how fast these cars were dropping in price.
However they are still way too expensive for me but I'm guesstimating that in about 3 years time they'll have dropped below 30k and maybe closer to 25k.
In the meantime I'll be researching all there is to know about F01/02.
On the subject of "Ze english" I'll say that it's pretty fluent compared to google translate that I used to read the threads here so far.
Pommy13: Sorry, I must have had you mixed up with someone else. Was reading through a lot of threads that day and someone who was driving a 750ld said their speeds were usually between 160-220km/h.
My E65 currently has 292000km on the clock and it will probably have closer to 450000km when I change to an F01 but I can guarantee that it will still be the best looking and maintained E65 with that kind of milage.

Nice Car, why do you should not be patient with this lovley Car? I hate a lotof people, very much lease the car, think, its not mine and use these luxurios cars like garbage....

Also want to ask how accurate is the OBC average consumption compared to if you calculate it yourself with the amount of liters refueled and km driven on a F01/02?
On my E65 it had a very large difference on the OBC vs real consumption. OBC could show 6.7L/100km while real was 8.5L.
Fortunately I could correct it from the locked service menu.

What I have seen sofar on the longterm onboard computers is
730ld 14 kilometers per liter
750LDx 11 kilomters per liter
The 740D(x) will be somewhere in between.
The 730 facelift is a lot faster than the previous one and is more than sufficient (and can be chipped)
For me the ideal car does not exist .. 740Ldx
I also drove the new active hybrid 6cyl.. And was very impressed! Very quiet and 11 km/l for a big petrol car? Very cheap second hand.. Downside is .. Less space in the bonnet, no towhook and no dynamic drive..
I think all the petrol versions have improved dramatically with the facelift.. Maybe Pommy has some more experience with that.
I have to replace a e66 750li on lpg which is fantastic as well.
Would have loved to have had the e66 v8 diesel longwheelbase version.. Alas .. Non existent.
I have driven several 750Ld cars. I have the feeling that they have gotten better, more silent? Does anybody know what improvemnets where made?

Agree, my biggest wish was also a 740Ldxdrive. This does not exisist and so the 50Ld just spare 2-3 Liter but cost as a Year-old Car at least 10 Grands more. So the feeling of Driving the Diesel ist not a good one (for me), Decision was easy to made.
I tested every Kombination of Motor and Drive (the 50LDX 4 times). the 760Li ist nearly perfect, but massive expansive in Austria and sadly also without the fourwheel. But i want to have this in the Mountains right here...
Conclusion: 740L D Xdrive would be the perfect 7 Series Until this ist not available, i´ll drive my 750L i Xdrive...
