Hello, sorry to write in english, but my german is not very good. I have just bought a BMW 745i (model 2003/03). I have navigation and TV function, BUT NO DVD player :-(

I am interested in purchasing a DVD player + 2 screens for the passengers in the back (behind the seats - or even only one between the seats).

Furthermore I am interested in watching TV even when I am driving. At the moment I can not watch TV while drivin because of security reasons.

CAN ANYBODY advice me what to do - or from where to buy and install these products? Thank you very much in advance for your help.

installing should not be a problem. For your DVD problem - your should order a original BMW - 6 changer.

Screens in the rear are very expensive.

i think it ist better when you bring the car to your bmw dealer.

surely they will use the computer to install the player in your car. i do not think you can do it by yourself.

Hi Barro,

take the car to the next BMW dealer and let them estimate the costs for installing a DVD player and (separately) for getting the rear entertainment system installed. As Ralf said above, the player needs to be registered to the car’s bus system, something only a BMW garage is able to do. Even if the cost is higher, you might want to go this route.

The TV free module is a different story and you got the link above.

As for rear DVD screens, the market is full of third party solutions (which get connected to the cars entertainment system) but often they are not as comfortable as the BMW solution and don’t fit the car’s interior as well as the original BMW solution does. A while back we had some discussions here on 3rd party rear DVD screens.

Where in Germany are you located? Someone on this board might be able to direct you to a dealer / garage / after market supplier who is able to help you.

Thanx for the advice... I will for sure try to contact the nearest BMW dealer. However, I am located in Sweden (which is why my german is very poor). I suppose it is more expesive to fix this here in Sweden rather than Germany. But I will of course drive to Germany and fix this if I can save a lot of money. If there is anyone located in north Germany and has good contact to a BMW dealer please let me know. Have a nice day...
